The Global Health Impact Assessment and Evaluation Group – IMPACThealth, is an interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, and intercultural research group dedicated to generating robust evidence on the health impacts of public policies, programs, and interventions. Our work centers on Health Impact Assessment and Evaluation (HIAE) methods—a systematic process that draws on multiple data sources and analytical approaches to assess how a policy, program, or project affects population health. We use cutting-edge tools and methodologies for HIAE, integrating ex-post (retrospective) and ex-ante (forecasting) evaluation techniques. Our work leverages large longitudinal datasets, quasi-experimental methods, and large microsimulation models, among many other approaches.

Our Core Pillars:

Despite recent improvements in data availability, modeling methods, and computational resources, quantitative HIAE remains underused in evidence-informed policy-making. IMPACThealth aims to bridge this gap by working in an integrated way with other programmes to evaluate and model more effective interventions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We operate globally to reduce health and social inequalities and strive to maximize the reach and influence of our research through advocacy and dynamic dialogue with programme managers, policy-makers,  and all relevant stakeholders.
